As one of four certified National Association of Realtors (NAR) Green® Instructors in Florida and Founder of US GreenBrokers Jeannette Moore (Green Florida Properties, Broker and NAR Instructor) is pleased to announce the graduates from the March NAR Green® courses. Jeannette (pictured above, far right) taught the courses at the St. Augustine and St. Johns County Board of Realtors’ office in St. Augustine, Florida.
NAR’s Green® Designation is the only real estate designation designed for agents to exemplify their understanding of resource-efficient building practices. The courses provide advanced training in green building science and sustainable business practices that enable a real estate professional to seek out, understand, and market properties with resource-efficient systems.
Why should the NAR GREEN designation be important to Buyers, Sellers, Builders, Lenders and Appraisers?
Anyone with a real estate license can sell real estate, but there are professional designations which set licensees apart from others, i.e. a REALTOR® subscribes to a higher code of ethics than a real estate licensee. The NAR Green® designation is only available to a REALTOR® and lets Buyers, Sellers, Appraisers, Lenders and Builders know not only is this licensee a professional but he/she also understands the benefits, value and science of resource-efficient properties.
For Sellers, a Green® Designee can identify green features in a home, list the upgrades correctly in the MLS (Multiple Listing System), market them to the Sellers’ best advantage and highlight those features for an Appraiser after a property is under contract. For Buyers, a Green® Designee can help locate resource-efficient properties, advise on retrofitting an existing property, explain the benefits of the upgrades, help locate a qualified Lender who can include those upgrades in a mortgage or maximize a loan by having energy-efficient systems already in place. For Lenders, a Green® Designee understands mortgages available to Buyers and seeks one who offers this type of mortgage. For Appraisers, a Green® Designee can provide the necessary information and documentation to help appraise a property at its’ true value with upgraded resource-efficient systems. Builders benefit when working with a NAR Green® Designee through the listing and selling process as well having their homes shown by these professionals who can explain the benefits to customers.
Throughout the US as the number of Sellers demanding to reap the value of their upgraded resource-efficient systems grows and the larger percentage of Buyers seeking healthier and more affordable homes there is a greater need for REALTORS® who understand the desires of savvy Buyers and Sellers.
