Today is World Water Day!


Are you part of the 23% of people who knows where their water comes from?  Although 70% of our planet is covered with water only .03% is accessible and drinkable!  What that means is nearly 2 billion people on our planet do not have access to clean  water to drink! Have you thought about what you can do to help change these percentages?

Yes, you can take shorter showers, turn off the water while you brush your teeth and run your dishwasher when it’s only 1/2 full but there are other things you can do to conserve water on a larger scale.  Not everyone can afford the major renovations or projects that will provide a substantial savings but there are things that you can do which won’t impact your pocketbook at all.  It’s all about awareness and being responsible for yourself.  This article on Care2.com offers 8 ways to recycle water that you might not have thought about.

I make a smoothie every morning and when I wash my blender jar I add enough water to mix all the good nutrients from my shake with the water.  I then water my herb pots sitting by my back door with this “healthy” water.  My herbs love this nutrient rich water and it takes much less to clean the blender after I’ve done this.  Please share something you do to conserve or recycle water in your house.
